How to make a claim?

Once we understand the situation, we’ll advise you on the next steps, what information you’ll need to provide, and how we can best support you throughout the process.

If you are in an emergency situation, please contact the appropriate emergency services first. Your safety is the priority—we can assist with your insurance claim once you are safe.

As soon as reasonably possible after the event, take steps to minimise further loss and, where necessary, notify the police.

Providing supporting documents and information can also help us lodge your claim quickly and achieve a faster outcome. Examples include:

Will I have to pay an excess?

In most cases, yes—an excess is the amount you’re required to contribute when you make a claim. The exact amount and circumstances depend on your policy and the type of claim being made.

We’ll explain any applicable excess to you at the time of lodging your claim, so you know what to expect before the claim progresses.

Different excess’ apply depending on the circumstances and type of claim, and the terms of your policy through us. Your excess is shown on your policy schedule with further excess terms and conditions being available in the applicable policy wording. Please ask us if you are un-sure about your excess.
