Quick Help & Support

Frequently Asked Questions

Insurance can feel complex, so we’ve answered some of the most common questions our clients ask. If you don’t see what you need, our team is always here to help.

About Our Services

What types of insurance do you offer?

We offer a wide range of general insurance solutions for individuals, families, and businesses as well as rural insurance. This includes cover for home, contents, motor, farm, rural, business, commercial property, liability, and more. Whatever your needs, we’ll work with you to find the right protection.

You already look after my business insurance, can you look after my personal insurance too?

Absolutely. In addition to business insurance, we can assist with personal policies such as home, contents, car, landlord, and travel insurance. That way, all of your cover can be managed in one place, with a team you know and trust.

Can you look after my health insurance too?

No, we don’t arrange health insurance. However, we can look after almost all other types of general insurance and are always happy to point you in the right direction if you need support with health cover.

Do you only work with local clients, or can you assist Australia-wide?

While we are proudly based in Albany and deeply connected to our local community, we assist clients right across Australia. With strong systems in place, we can provide the same level of service and support no matter where you are located.

What is the difference between using a broker and going directly to an insurer?

When you deal directly with an insurer, you’re limited to their products and advice. A broker works for you, not the insurer. We compare options from a range of insurers, explain the differences, and tailor cover to your needs—so you can be confident you’re properly protected.

Why should I choose a Steadfast broker? / What is Steadfast and how does this benefit me?

As part of the Steadfast Group, the largest general insurance broker network in Australia and New Zealand, we have access to a wide range of policies, competitive pricing, and exclusive benefits not always available to the public. This means you get personalised local service, backed by the strength and resources of a large national network.

Costs & Quotes

Does it cost me anything to get a quote?

No. We’re happy to provide a quote obligation-free. This allows you to see your options and compare cover before making a decision.

Do I have to pay for your services as a broker?

In most cases, you do not pay us directly. Brokers are paid by the insurer through a commission when you take out a policy. Most of our invoices also include a broker fee, we’ll always be upfront about any costs before you proceed.

Claims & Cover

What is an excess / Why do I have to pay an excess?

An excess is the amount you agree to contribute when making a claim. The specific amount depends on your policy and the type of claim. We’ll explain the excess to you when lodging a claim, so you know exactly what to expect.

Claims Process

We manage the claims process on your behalf—from start to finish. That includes lodging the claim, dealing with the insurer, and keeping you updated along the way. Our goal is to make the process smooth, stress-free, and focused on achieving the best possible outcome.

How do I make a claim?

Simply contact us and let us know what’s happened. We’ll guide you through the next steps and manage the process on your behalf. If it’s an emergency, contact the relevant emergency services first. Your safety is the priority—we’ll assist with your insurance claim once you’re safe.

Ongoing Support

Can you help if I already have an insurance policy with another broker or insurer?

Yes, we can review your existing cover and help you decide whether it still meets your needs. If you’d like to transfer to us, we’ll make the process simple and hassle-free.

How often should I review my insurance cover?

We recommend reviewing your policies at least once a year, or sooner if your circumstances change—such as buying new assets, expanding your business, or renovating your home. A quick review helps ensure you’re always properly protected.

Can you help me with risk management as well as insurance?

Yes. Part of our role is helping you identify potential risks and offering advice on how to minimise them. This proactive approach not only protects your assets but can also reduce the likelihood of claims and may even lower your premiums.
